1731 hours - Still Alarm - Central and Vernor, check for a fire. Engine 33 and Ladder 13. A minute later, Central Office advised that the box assignment would be responding with Engine 33/Ladder 13. Box Alarm, fire reported at the Phoenix Academy (vacant school). Engines 33, 37, 27, Ladder 13, Squad 4, Chiefs 7, 2. Engine 33 stretched on a vacant school. Chief 7 reported a vacant school on fire, holding all companies, and requested an additional company for manpower (Engine 34). Chief 2 Safety/Engine 34 RIT. Fire on the 2nd floor, 2 lines stretched/operated, and fire placed under control at 1754 hours. This vacant school, which was closed in 2016 due to low enrollment, is slated for demolition and has been the scene of fire after fire over the last several years, including 3 during our trip.
