3/13/14 - Highspire Borough, PA - Second St

Around 2330 hours Box 55-1 sent companies to the 600 block of Second Street for a fully involved structure fire. Chief 55-1 went enroute and reported a column of smoke from 2 blocks out. Engine 55 arrived on location with a one story, single family, dwelling with heavy fire showing from the rear. A full first alarm assignment was requested by command. Companies went in service with an aggressive attack on the fire using multiple hand lines. Additional crews assisted with rook ventilation and checking for extension. The bulk of the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes with extensive mop up operations. 6 occupants were displaced and the home was a total loss. Units on scene: Engine 41, 55, 55-1, 59-1, Truck 50, 456, Rescue 40, 88, Air 41.
