10/9/14 - Swatara Township, PA - Third Street

Around 0740 hours Box 49-4 sent Swatara Township companies to 431 Third Street in the Enhaut section of the township for a structure fire. Additional reports indicated flames and smoke visible prompting the responding officer to add an additional engine and rescue to the box. Chief 49 (Steele) arrived on location and reported a working fire in an occupied, 2.5 story, private dwelling. Engine 41 (Bressler) arrived on side B and stretched a line into the kitchen to make an interior knock on the fire. Rescue and Engine 49 (Swatara Township) both secured hydrants and sent crews to assit with fire suppression. Engine 44 (Lawton arrived and assumed truck company operations. The primary search was negative. The fire on the first floor was knocked in about 10 minutes with some extension to the second floor via the walls and void spaces. One pet dog perished in the fire after attempts by EMS to revive the dog were unsuccessful. No other injuries were reported.
