10/17/14 - Lower Paxton Township, PA - Care St
At 2350 hours, Box 33-2 sent companies 33 (Colonial Park), 34 (Paxtonia), and 35 (Linglestown) to Care Street between Ethel Street and Jonestown Road in the Colonial Park neighborhood for a reported house on fire. Responding units were advised by County Communications that PD was on location with smoke from the exterior and they were unable to make entry for a possible trapped occupant. Chief 33 arrived with a 1.5 story, private dwelling with heavy smoke showing. With reports of a trapped occupant companies went into search and rescue mode and additional companies stretched a line through the front door for suppression. During this time the fire flashed and venting from side C of the structure with heavy smoke conditions throughout and Command 33 requested the first alarm assignment. Crews were able to successfully remove an occupant and quickly turned over to EMS. With fire still travelling in the void spaces and a water supply issue the fire rapidly intensified forcing companies to evacuate the structure. The fire was knocked down from the outside before companies went back inside for hot spots and extensive overhaul.
