01/07/14 - Harrisburg, PA - Hummel St

At 0617 hours, Box 1-4 sent companies to 248 Hummel Street in the Allison Hill neighborhood for a reported structure fire. Squad 8 went on location with heavy smoke showing from side A of a 2.5 story, middle of the row, dwelling. Captain 2 (Miller) requested the first alarm assignment. The Squad crew stretched a hand line through the front door and quickly knocked down a fire on the first floor. All searches and signs of extension were reported as negative. The fire was placed under control in about 15 minutes and units remained on the scene for about a 1.5 hours before going into service.
