1. Baltimore Fires

9/4/16 - Baltimore, MD - Eastern Ave

At 2005 hours Box Alarm 5-70 toned for 1707 Eastern Ave, in the Fells Point neighborhood, for a report of a building fire at the Tuxedo Zone. Engines 5,6,41 (RIT),2,51, Trucks 1,5, Rescue 1, Battalion Chiefs 2,1 made up the initial response assignment. Truck 3, who had just cleared a run, added themselves to the box and arrived first due reporting a 3 story, middle of the group, with heavy smoke showing. Communications alerted responding companies of possible entrapment. Battalion Chief 2 arrived and assumed command, reporting some showing from the 3rd floor side alpha. Battalion Chief 1 assumed command in the rear. The working fire assignment was requested at 2013 hours followed by a second alarm at 2029 hours. Heavy smoke conditions and fire spread from the 2nd to 3rd floor prompted command to evacuate the building and go defensive with ladder pipes and exterior hand lines. The fire took about an hour to bring under control and reports of entrapment were negative. No injuries were reported but the fire destroyed the building which served as bridal shop.
