At 2226 hours Box Alarm 20-10 sent Engines 20, 52, Squad 40 (RIT), 36, 30, Trucks 18,12, and Battalion Chiefs 5, 3 to 3208 Clifton Avenue for the dwelling fire. Truck 18 arrived with a 2 story, wood frame, fire showing from the rear. Battalion Chief 5 assumed command requested the working fire assignment, reporting heavy fire 1st floor sides B and C, believed to be a vacant structure, interior attack underway. Fire extended to the second floor and attic area. Interior crews reported there was no floor on the second story in the rear. Engine 53 and Truck 10 made up the working fire assignment. While companies were arriving, Fire Communications sent a Tactical Box for Engines 8, 13, and Truck 8 to the 2100 block of N. Hilton Street for a report of a fire. This was determined to be the Clifton Avenue fire and Engine 8 was assigned to the scene and Engine 53 placed in service. At 2237 Command ordered companies to evacuate the structure and set up for defensive operations. The fire was knocked down in about and hour using ground lines and ladder pipes. Units remained on the scene performing extensive overhaul. 1 firefighter was injured with non-life threatening injuries.
