6/14/22 - Harrisburg, PA - N. 7th St

At 1655 hours, while Squad 8 and Tower 1 were handling an active fuel leak from a vehicle at the Capital Complex, Box 1-3 sent Wagons 3, 4, Truck 2, and Battalion Chief 6 (Bradford) to 2327 N. 7th Street in the city’s Uptown for a commercial garage fire. Tower 1 became available and took in the box. County advised of receiving multiple calls for fire from an automotive shop. Chief 6 reported he had a smoke column visible from the State Street bridge. Truck 2 arrived and Captain 3 reported a well off fire and companies would be going defensive. Wagon 3 secured a hydrant in front of the building and led off with a step gun to the rear. Tower 1 arrived and set up to the rear and was supplied a 3 inch line from Wagon 3. Chief 6 requested the first alarm at 1701 hours bringing Engine 301, Truck 32, Rescue 69, and Air 13. Chiefs 1 (Enterline) and 2 (Souder) also responded to the fire. Wagon 4 arrived and secured a hydrant at N. 7th and Curtin Streets and supplied Truck 32 who set up on the A/D corner. Penbrook Engine 301 brought in water from 6th and Emerald supplying Squad 8 at N. 7th and Emerald. All employees were reported to be out of the building early on but 2 dogs were still inside. Due to run off Chief 1 requested the county Haz Mat officer and DEP to respond to the scene. Multiple lines and 3 aerial devices were flowing water at the height of the incidents. Firefighters remained on the scene for almost 12 hours before the last unit returned to service. Companies were called back to the location several times on 6/15/22 as the remains of the building continued to smolder.
