12/4/22 - Penbrook, PA - Boas St
Firefighters made a quick knock down on a kitchen fire this afternoon on Boas Street in the Borough of Penbrook. At 1441 hours, Box 302, sent Company 30, Engines 32, 33, Wagon 4, Tower 1, Truck 34, and Rescue 37 to 2258 Boas Street for a reported kitchen fire. Harrisburg Wagon 4 had a column of smoke from Walnut Street in the city. Penbrook Engine 301 had smoke in the distance as well from the firehouse and requested the first alarm be dispatched. This brought Engines 50, 40, Truck 32, Rescue 69, Air 35 to the scene. Progress Chief 32-2 (Lawrence) arrived in the rear with fire showing, 3 stories and a walkout basement. Battalion Chief 7 (Bastinelli) reported a 1.5 story, single-family, dwelling with heavy smoke showing and assumed command. The crew from Tower 1 were able to rescue a dog from the first floor and aid was administered. Two handlines were stretched and each operated on both floors. Companies opened up the second floor to knock some fire down that extended in the walls. All occupants were able to escape and the fire was placed under control in about 40 minutes.
