1/23/2022 - York, PA - Lincoln St

At 1018 hours, York City Fire & Rescue Engines 99-1, 99-5, 99-9, Truck 99-1, and Chief 99-1 were alerted to 175 N. Pershing Avenue for a structure fire. A caller reported seeing fire inside through an open window and Engine 99-9 had a column of smoke enroute from Parkway and Pershing. Engine 99-9 arrived shortly after with a 3 story, duplex, heavy fire showing from the first and second floors. The working fire assignment brought Engine 89-2, Truck 89-1, and Service 99-1 to the scene. The corrected address was 175 Lincoln Street, which was marked with an “X” indicating it is not safe to enter. Crews went defensive in this dwelling. A second alarm was struck at 1028 hours, bringing Truck 1-1, Engines 502, and Truck 502 to the scene. Crews made an interior attack in 177 Lincoln Street, which was occupied, in an attempt to prevent extension and cut off the fire. Several handlines and the master stream from Truck 99-1 were used to knock down the bulk of the fire. A collapse zone was set up on side D and a partial collapse of the second floor occurred. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, companies performed extensive overhaul opening up and dousing hot spots. Red Cross assisted several occupants with displacement.
