1/12/22 - West Donegal Township, PA - Turnpike Rd

Shortly after 1400 hours, Lancaster County Communications began receiving multiple calls reporting a dwelling fire in the 1100 block of Turnpike Road in West Donegal Township. Engines 74-2, 74-1, 701, 54, Trucks 74, 75, 88, and Tankers 71, 70, 54 made up the initial response assignment. Chief 74-12 went enroute and based on the calls and PD report, requested the first two tankers to feed the first due engine and the third engine to set up a fill site. Elizabethtown Engine 74-2 arrived with 6 personnel to a 2.5 story, balloon frame, single family, dwelling with heavy fire showing from the A/D corner. A 200 foot 1.75 inch handline was stretched for initial attack on the first floor fire. A second line was stretched to the second floor where the fire had extended to. All occupants were reported to be out of the dwelling. Command 74 requested two additional tankers to the scene. 3 lines were in operation and companies were back down to the first floor while the master stream from Truck 74 darkened the heavy fire conditions on the second floor. Shortly after, there was a partial collapse of the second floor with no members down. A PAR checked confirmed all firefighters were accounted for. Command 74 requested the second alarm at 1456 hours. Companies went defensive to knock the bulk of the fire down before performing extensive overhaul. Companies from Lancaster, Dauphin, and York counties battled the blaze. 2 adults and 5 children were left homeless.
