12/24/21 - South Hanover Township, PA - Stone Mill Rd

At 0539 hours, Box 47-6 toned for a garage fire at 100 Stone Mill Road sending South Hanover Company 47, Swatara Fire Engine 91-5, Rescue 91-5, Hummelstown Truck 46, and Lower Swatara Tanker 59 on the initial assignment. Duty Officer 47 went enroute and reported heavy fire from the distance and requested the first alarm assignment. Engines 46, 36-2, Tankers 71, 54, 35, Rescues 48, 36-1, and Air 48 to the scene. First arriving companies had heavy fire in a detached garage, also involving brush, and an exposure that was not involved. Engine 47-1 arrived, and due to the area not having hydrants, emptied their water tank into Truck 46 to start an initial attack with a 2.5 inch line. Additional tankers began and all supplied Truck 46 with water to supply lines and aerial pipe operations. Crews reported a 55 gallon diesel fuel drum to the rear of the garage. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes and companies opened up the collapsed garage to expose and extinguish hot spots.
