12/19/21 - Harrisburg, PA - S. 13th St
At 1218 hours, Box 1-5 sent Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1, Truck 2, and Battalion Chief 6 (Bradford) to the 1400 blk of S 13th Street in South Harrisburg for smoke from a house. County advised Chief 6 of receiving a couple calls, heavier smoke coming from the house, and the occupants were evacuating. With the updated info Chief 6 requested the first alarm bringing Wagon 3, Truck 32, Rescue 69, and Air 13 to the scene. First arriving companies had heavy fire on the first floor of a 2.5 story, wood frame, dwelling in a row of 3. Lines were stretched from the Squad who secured a water supply on side into both 1332 and 1334 S. 13th Street where heavy fire was consuming both floors in the rear of both dwellings. With conditions deteriorating quickly, Chief 6 requested the second alarm bringing Engines 301, 50, 37-1, Squad 12, Truck 30 to the scene. A brief water supply issue forced Chief 6 to evacuate the structure and requested big water to the rear. Companies quickly re-entered for interior attack using multiple lines from the Squad into both dwellings at 1332 and 1334 along with the exposure on either side. Fire was able to get into the attic of the unattached exposure to the north and a line was used to quickly knock the fire down. With extensive overhaul and opening up required Chief 1 requested the third alarm for manpower bringing Engines 40, 68-1, Rescue 59, 91, and Trucks 88, 2 to the scene. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes and all searches negative. The 2 fire buildings at 1332 and 1334 were heavily damaged and the exposures suffered moderate damage. The fire was placed under control about 1330 hours and units remained on the scene for an extended period with mop up and investigation.
