7/14/20 - Harrisburg, PA - Hummel St
Shortly after shift change, Box 1-4 sent Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1, Truck 2, and Battalion Chief 5 (Lloyd) to 248 Hummel Street for a structure fire. County advised responding companies of multiple calls being received reporting a fire. Chief 5 requested the first alarm assignment enroute bringing Wagon 3, Rescue 69, Air 13, and Chiefs 1, 2, 3 to the scene. Squad 8 arrived and laid in from a hydrant at Haehnlen and Hummel to side A. Heavy smoke was issuing from a 3 story, brick, end of the row dwelling as companies stretched 2 lines from the Squad for an interior attack. Chief 5 requested the second alarm at 0747 hours bringing county mutual aid to the scene. Interior crews reported heavy fire on the first and second floors and made a good push knocking down the bulk of the fire in 10 minutes. Reports of a possible occupant in the fire proved to be false and all searches were negative. The fire extended via walks and ceilings to the rear of exposure B. 2 lines were stretched and operated in the exposure. Extensive overhaul was required to fully extinguish the fire and Chief 5 placed the fire under control at 0817 hours. No injuries were reported.
