At 1525 hours, Box 34-4 toned for a report of black smoke coming from house at 754 N. Highlands Drive. Units on the initial box alarm were Company 34, Engines 32, 33, 35, Rescue 36-1, 46, and Truck 34. County Communications advised companies enroute of receiving multiple calls reporting a house on fire and a male unaccounted for. Paxtonia Engine 34 arrived 5 minutes after dispatch with heavy smoke showing, laid out from N. Highlands Drive requesting Engine 33 to pick up their line, and advised to strike out the first alarm. Engine 36-1, Rescue 91, Trucks 33, 32, and Air 35 made up the extra assignment. Crews had heavy fire showing from an attached garage already extending to the 2nd floor of the attached dwelling. EMS reported all occupants accounted for. 2 lines were stretched from Engine 34 for initial fire attack. A crew also went into the unattached, B side exposure to check for any fire extension. High winds allowed the fire to travel quickly throughout the second floor and roof as interior companies worked hard to knock down the bulk of the fire. A construction sized dumpster in the driveway of the exposure also became involved with fire. While companies were getting the upper hand on the fire building, smoke started to issue from the rear of the B exposure. 2 lines were quickly stretched from the crews of Rescue 91, 46, and 35 to assist in containing the fire which involved the walls from the first floor to the attic. The fire in the exposure building was knocked down without any further extension. Command 34 special called Engines 91-5, 88, and Lebanon Tower 1 to the scene. The fire in both dwellings was placed under control at 1600 hours with extensive overhaul required before companies cleared the scene.
