1/5/20 - Lower Paxton Township - Calvert St
An early morning fire at a Colonial Park home left a family homeless but they were able to escape unharmed. At 0733 hours, Box 33-5 sent Company 33 (Colonial Park), Engines 34 (Paxtonia), and 35 (Linglestown) to 471 Calvert Street for a structure fire. Engine 33 advised of a single caller from the residence advising smoke in the basement. Chief 33-1 (Lemmons) arrived to a single story, bungalow, with smoke showing from the Bravo side and Engine 33 would be stretching. An attack line was stretched from Engine 33 to the bravo entrance leading to the basement. Engine 34 arrived and pulled a second line to the first floor for any possible extension. Truck 34 laddered the building and set up a fan for positive pressure. All visible fire was knocked down in 10 minutes with no extension to the first floor or attic. All occupants had safely escaped prior to the arrival of the fire department. One pet was safely removed from the dwelling.
