7/3/19 - York, PA - S. Pershing Ave
At 1818 hours York City Engines 99-1, 99-5, 99-9, Truck 99-1, and Chief 99-2 sent to 104 S. Pershing Avenue for a structure fire. Chief 99-2 advised of a caller reporting the back of the house next door is on fire. Engine 99-1, responding from their quarters about 2 blocks away, reported smoke showing from Market and Pershing. Companies had fire on the second floor of a 3 story, occupied, middle of the row, dwelling with extension to the 3rd floor rear porch. The working fire declaration brought Engine 25-1, Truck 1-1, Service 99, and RIT 9 to the scene. A second alarm was struck at 1836 hours bringing Engines 89-2, 89-3, 89-4, Rescue 9, Truck 89-2 to the scene. Interior crews reported a collapse of the rear, 3rd floor porch. Multiple lines stretched and operated to knock down the bulk of the fire in about 15 minutes with extensive overhaul. Multiple firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion as temps neared 90 degrees. 8 occupants were displaced and 2 cats were killed.
