4/5/19 - Harrisburg, PA - Sycamore St
Box 1-5 sent Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1, Truck 2, and Chief 4 (Wise) to 1625 Sycamore Street in south Harrisburg for a structure fire. As companies were marking up enroute County Communications advised of multiple calls, EMS reporting a large column, and one occupant jumped from the roof. With this info Chief 5 requested the first alarm, bringing Wagon 3, Rescue 69, and Air 13 to the scene. At the time of the alarm, 2 year truck school firefighters and instructors were using Tower 2 and Reserve Engine 2 to complete training on Kittatinny Street and took the box in upon dispatch. Chief 5 (Lloyd) went on location with a 2.5 story, single-family, brick, dwelling and the first floor being well involved. All occupants were reported to be out of the structure. Due to the exterior walls being compromised on the B and D sides, all companies went to defensive operations using step guns, deck gun, and aerial streams. The bulk of the fire was knocked in about 10 minutes. Companies continued pouring water on the structure to overhaul and fully extinguish hot spots. The house was a total loss and displaced 4 occupants.
