1/30/19 - Paxtang, PA - Derry St

At 1809 hours, Box 401 sent Company 40 (Paxtang), Engines 30 (Penbrook), 33 (Colonial Park), 91, (Swatara – Oberlin)) 91-5 (Swatara – Rutherford), Truck 32 (Progress), Tower 1 (Harrisburg), Rescue 50 (Steeltyon, and Air 91-2 (Swatara – Bressler) to 3212 Derry Street for a report of smoke coming from the neighbors home. Captain 32 (Lawrence) arrived with a 2.5 story, duplex and reported a possible furnace malfunction. A line was stretched and companies encountered a heavy smoke condition on the interior. Engine 91-2 (Swatara – Bressler) and Rescue 37 (Rescue) were dispatched as replacement units and Rescue 35 (Linglestown) special called to the scene. Crews located a fire in the basement and floor joist. A second line was stretched and the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. First floors walls were opened with negative extension. All searches negative.
