Box 88-3 toned out at 0150 hours sending Company 88 (Middletown), Engines 59 (Lower Swatara), 71 (HIA), and 74-1 (Elizabethtown) to 672 S. Union Street for a bathroom fire. Chief 88 (Whitebread) went enroute and advised by County Communications that all occupants were out and PD on scene with fire out 1 window impinging on the exposure. A first alarm assignment was requested bringing Engines 54 (Londonderry), 55 (Highspire), Truck 50 (Steelton), Rescue 59 (Lower Swatara), and Air 91-2 (Bressler) to the scene. Engine 88 stretched on a 2.5 story, occupied, dwelling with heavy fire from the rear. An initial attack was stretched to the second floor knocking down the bulk of the fire. An additional line was operated as fire extended in the walls and attic area. Truck 88 opened the roof. The fire was placed under control in about an hour.
