3/15/18 - Lancaster Township, PA - Wyncroft Ln

Firefighters from suburban Lancaster battled a two-alarm fire that destroyed a multi-family apartment building. At 1052 hours Engines 66-1, 66-2, 66-3, Truck 66, and Rescue 905 were dispatched to 645 Wyncroft Ln. for an apartment building. Chief 66-1 was advised of multiple calls and the fire was to be on the roof. Chief 66-1 radioed a column enroute and requested the 2nd alarm. Rescue 905 arrived with a 2 story apartment building with heavy fire showing from the roof on the A/B side. Command reported a fire running the roof and requested the first due truck (Truck 67) to prepare for platform operations. With heavy fire conditions rapidly spreading Command ordered all companies to evacuate about 20 minutes into the incident. With low hydrant pressure in the area an addtional 2 engines were requested to assist with laying supply line. 3 aerial streams, blitzfires, and handlines worked to contain the blaze that engulf the entire 2nd floor and roof. To ensure a sufficient water supply Command requested a tanker force, consisting of 8 tankers, be dispatched to the scene. Companies worked the fire for 2 hours before declaring control. 25 occupants were dispaced and the fire caused $1.2 million dollars damage.
