12/31/17 - Harrisburg, PA - N. 4th St

At 2045 hours, Box 1-3 sent Wagon 3, Squad 8, Tower, 1, Truck 2, and Battalion Chief 5 (Lloyd) to the area of 2139 N. 4th Street for rapids calls on a house fire. As companies were marking up enroute, County advised Chief 5 they were dispatching the first alarm with reports of entrapment. Wagon 4, Rescue 69, and Air 13 filled out the first alarm. Truck 2 advised of smoke in the area and arrived on scene with a 2 story, middle of the row, dwelling with fire showing from the 1st floor. Wagon 3 hooked into a dead hydrant and Wagon 4 assisted with a secondary hydrant. Lines were stretched into the fire building where crews advanced on a heavily involved first floor extending to the upper floors. With heavy smoke pushing from the exposure Chief 5 requested the second alarm bringing Engines 30, 37-1 and Trucks 32, 50 to the scene. Chiefs 1 (Enterline) and 2 (Souder) also responded to the scene. The bulk of the fire in the fire building at 2142 N. 4th Street was knocked down in about 15 minutes. The fire extended to all floors of the fire building which was vacant and extended to the third floor and cockloft of the occupied exposure at 2139. Extensive overhaul and opening up of ceilings and void spaces were required to the bring the fire under control in an hour. Primary and secondary searches were negative. Temperature during the fire was 12 degrees.
