12/10/17 - Harrisburg - S. 14th St

Box 1-5 toned at 1515 hours sending Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1, Truck 2, and Captain 4 (Feldman) to the rear of 1429 S. 13th Street for a house fire. Multiple calls were being received for fire in a vacant dwelling possibly on S. 14th Street. Squad 8 arrived and laid a line to the rear. Captain 4 assumed command advising of a 2 story, end of the row, unoccupied, dwelling with the first floor fully involved. 2 lines were stretched with one operated quickly knocking down a fire involving a front room. The fire was placed under control in 15 minutes with no extension. On a side note, the 1400 block of S. 14th in South Harrisburg was the site of a sink hole in 2014. This resulted in 52 homes on the block being uninhabitable. The city purchased most of the homes and the purchase of the remaining few homes is pending. Once the city has completed the purchase of all the homes they will be demolished.
