11-27-17 - East Petersburg, PA - Miller Rd
At 2236 hours, Engines 23-1, 208, 67-1, 69-1, Trucks 23, 67, and Rescues 23, 25 were dispatched to 2516 Miller Road in East Petersburg Borough for a dwelling fire. Caller indicated that ashes caught the back deck on fire attached to the house. Chief 23 arrived with a working fire on side C of a 2 story, occupied, wood frame and fire was already up in the 2nd floor and attic. Engine 23-1 hit the hydrant in front of the structure and crews initiated an interior attack. Due to deteriorating conditions, companies were evacuated from the structure about 25 minutes into the incident. Command 23 requested the working fire be dispatched. Master streams were put in place and companies were able to knock down the bulk of fire before re-entering and performing extensive overhaul to extinguish the fire. The fire was placed under control in about an hour.
