Cumberland County Box 113-02 dispatched Engine Companies 10 (New Cumberland), 12 (Lower Allen), 13 (West Shore), Squad 13 (West Shore), Truck 14 (Camp Hill), and Air 41 (Bressler) for a house fire at 140 Bosler Avenue in the Borough of Lemoyne. Chief 2-13 went enroute and requested Rescue 69 (York DLA) and Tower 1 (Harrisburg) be added to the box. Headquarters advised Chief 2-13 that calls being received indicated 2 buildings on fire and possible entrapment with a male on the roof. PD were able to rescue that occupant from the roof via ground ladder prior to arrival of the FD. Chief 2-13 requested the 2nd alarm a few miles out due to a heavy smoke column that could be seen for miles around the Metro Harrisburg area. Engine Companies 21 (Creekside), 30 (Hampden Township), 68 (Fairview Township), Trucks 10 (New Cumberland), 12 (Lower Allen), Rescues 14 (Camp Hill), 20 (Northeast – East Pennsboro Township), and Squad 8 (Harrisburg) made up the second alarm. Squad 13 was the first arriving company and laid a line in to the side A/D corner of the building. Heavy fire involved all floors of a 3 story duplex at 140 Bosler and an unattached 2.5 story, single family dwelling. The fire also extended to a one-story, unattached garage. Tower 1 and Truck 12 took a position on side A and Truck 14 set up on side D. Incoming companies were instructed to pick up secondary water supplies. With the entire rear of the duplex and single family dwelling heavily involved companies were ordered to evacuate the building and use master streams and blitz fire to knock down the bulk of the visible fire. Crews continued to battle the stubborn fire for over an hour before the fire was placed under control. Approximately 75 firefighters from 3 counties responded to the scene.
