11-23-15 - Harrisburg, PA - Swatara St

At 0057 hours Box 1-4 sent Squad 8, Wagon 4, Towers 1, 2, and Captain 2 (Wise) to 14th & Swatara Streets for a structure fire. Further info indicated the address to be Swatara & Daisy Streets. PD advising a well involved structure , possible vacant. Squad 8 arrived on location with the 3rd floor fully involved and requested the first alarm. Captain 2 reported a defensive operation for fire throughout a 3 story, wood frame, dwelling in poor condition. Tower 1 arrived and took the front of the fire building being supplied by Squad 8. Wagon 4 set up in a vacant lot near the B/C corner and secured their own water supply for deck gun operations. Wagon 3 secured a hydrant at 14th and Swatara Streets and supplied Tower 2 which set up on the D side for exposure protection. Captain 2 requested a second alarm for manpower bringing county mutual aid to the scene at 0001 hours. About 10 minutes into the incident a collapse occurred on the B/C corner and companies operated out of the collapse zone. Deck guns, aerial streams, and ground streams knocked the bulk of the fire down in about 15 minutes. Companies remained on the scene for a few hours performing extensive overhaul. C Platoon working.
