8/11/13 - Harrisburg, PA - Logan St
Sunday, August 11, 2013 - Around 2030 hours Box 1-3 sent Wagon 3, Squad 8, Towers 1, 2, and Chief 4 (Horst) to 1923 Logan Street, in the city’s Uptown, for a house fire. County dispatch advised of multiple calls reporting working fire with PD on location confirming such. Wagon 3 and Tower 2 arrived on location with heavy fire showing from a vacant, 2.5 story, row dwelling. Chief 4 requested the first alarm assignment bringing Wagon 4, Tower 3, Rescue 69 to the scene. Heavy fire consumed the fire building at 1921 Logan Street and began to spread to the exposures at 1923 and 1925 Logan Street. Command requested Engine 30 and Truck 32 to the scene and eventually called for Engine 40 for manpower. Due to the threat of collapse crews worked exterior lines on the fire building and performed an aggressive interior attack on the exposures. Firefighters battled the blaze for close to an hour before declaring control. Extensive overhaul was required as the stubborn blaze burned in the dormer and roof area. Companies remained on the scene for over 3 hours before starting to be released. County mutual crews filled in at empty City Stations 1 and 2.
