3/30/12 - Susquehanna Township, PA - I81 N at Route 322 W

At 1945 hours, Company 37 (Rescue) and Engine 32 (Progress) dispatched on Box 84-1 to Interstate 81 northbound at the Route 322 west exit ramp for a tractor trailer overturned with confinement. Units arrived on location with a tanker on its side and leaking chicken fat. The driver escaped the accident with minor injuries. Firefighters focused their attention on the chicken fat spill which was making its way into the drainage system. Command 84 requested additional resources from the Dauphin County Haz Mat, Harrisburg Bureau of Fire, and Halifax FD for hazardous material and spill supplies. Companies were successful in containing the spill and the incident was turned over to cleanup officials. The exit ramp remained closed for several hours.
