1/18/12 - Middle Paxton Township, PA - Gap View Rd
Around 0720 hours Box 38-4 sent companies to 1241 Gap View Road at the "Aces Inn" for a structure fire. Assistant Chief 29 was on location with smoke showing from all sides of a commercial building with an unoccupied vehicle out front. Chief 38 arrived and requested the working fire dispatch. Duncannon Rescue 2 arrived and set up a port-a-pond, Progress Truck 32 took side A for ventilation, and Dauphin Engine 38 laid 5 inch to side A. Several lines were stretched into the building and companies were making advances on the fire. The roof was opened up and the operations were focused on protecting the unburned portion side which was connected via a narrow passageway. Heavy fire broke through the roof prompting Command 38 to withdrawal members from the building and switched to defensive operations. The fire was knocked down and the rest of the building was saved from fire damage but suffered from heavy smoke. Extensive overhaul followed and the box was placed in service at 1201 hours. One firefighter was transported and treated for a burn injury. Companies from Perry and Cumberland counties assisted at the scene.
