4/2/11 - East Hanover Township - Shells Church Rd

Around 1545 hours Company 39 (Grantville) and surrounding companies were dispatched to 287 Shells Church Road at the Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church for a reported fire in the church. Units arrived to a working fire in the 186-year old, 2 story, church and went into service with an interior attack. With no hydrants in the area a portable pond was set up in the parking lot of the church. Several lines were advanced into the basement area where the bulk of fire was knocked down. Fire was believed to have extended into the walls but firefighters were able to open up and extinguish any hot spots. Companies from Dauphin and Lebanon Counties fought the blaze. One person is in custody charged with starting the blaze that extensively damaged the church.
