2/18/10 - Derry Township - Gramercy Place
Box 48-3 sent companies to 1824 Gramercy Place for a shed fire around 1700 hours. Additional reports indicated calls were being received that the building was on fire. Chief 48-3 arrived to a well involved 2 story, occupied, multiple, dwelling with heavy fire throughout and exposure problems. Truck 46 (Hummelstown) was the first piece of apparatus to arrive and took a position on side A and went in service with ladder pipe operations. Handlines were stretched for fire attack and exposure protection. The alarm was upgraded bringing additional resources to the scene. Evacuation tones were hit 15 minutes into the fire and the building was deluged with streams from Truck 46 and Truck 48 (Hershey). Firefighters performed an extensive amount of overhaul on the structure which was gutted in the fire. Ironically, 4 hours after this alarm another 48 box sent stand-by companies to a reported structure fire across town that was reported as a garage impinging on a house. Companies had a working fire but a quick knock down held the box to the first engine and truck.
