6/30/09 - Swatara Township - Bridge Rd

Fire destroyed an outbuilding used by Murphy's Home Improvement Center near the intersection of Bridge Rd and Route 322 Westbound. The afternoon fire also damaged a home and the part of the main store as a column of black smoke could be seen for miles around. A second alarm and special calls were needed to bring the fire under control. Units remained on the scene with extensive overhaul getting assistance from a backhoe. The fire occurred in Company 45's (Rutherford) first due box area. One firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Photos taken are about 2 hours into the incident.
