7/7/08 - Harrisburg - N. Sixth St

A fast moving fire heavily damaged several row homes in the Uptown section of the city this afternoon. Tones dropped for Box 1-3 at 1325 hours for a reported structure fire at 2623 N. 6th Street. Captain 3 (Shrauder) arrived with heavy smoke showing from a row of 3 story, brick dwellings. With Wagon 3 and Tower 2 going to work, Captain 3 hit for the 1st alarm as heavy fire from the rear was extending to the 2nd floor decking. Several lines were stretched into the fire building and both exposures. The fire extended from the first floor to the upper floors and roof of the fire building and exposures. A 2nd alarm was requested for manpower 10 minutes into the incident. Companies were able to stop the progress of the fire and knock the bulk of the fire down in about 30 minutes. 10 adults and 7 children were displaced in the fire. Units on the scene: Box Alarm: Wagon 3, Squad 8, Towers 1,2, Captain 3; 1st Alarm: Wagon 4, Tower 3, Rescue 69, Chief 2 (Soulier); 2nd Alarm: Engines 30 (Penbrook), 37 (Rescue), Trucks 12 (Lower Allen), 32 (Progress); Specials: Rescue 44 (Lawnton), Air 13 (West Shore), Reserve Engine 2, Salvage 21 (Creekside).
