7/31/06 - Shippensburg Borough - E. King St

Around 0645 hours Cumberland County Fire dispatched Shippensburg borough and surrounding fire companies to 16 E. King Street for a reported building fire. Command 4 quickly struck a 2nd alarm as heavy fire was rapidly extending throughout the top floors of a 3 story, middle of the row, mixed occupancy structure. Moments later crews were evacuated and forced to reply on defensive ops and protecting the exposures which were seriously threatened. Numerous companies from Cumberland and Franklin counties converged on the scene and dozens of others transferred to multiple stations throughout the area. The fire destroyed several apartments and ground floor businesses in the heart of Shippensburg business district. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
