6/28/05 - Harrisburg - N. 17th Street

Around 0500 hours Task Force 2 companies were dispatched to 68 N. 17th Street for a structure fire with possible entrapment. Tower 1 arrived with heavy fire on the first floor of a 3 story, occupied, middle of the row dwelling. Chief 4 arrived and requested a second alarm. Crews quickly stretched a line while other members searched the residence for trapped occupants. Tower 2 was advised to bring a ladder to the rear for a person trapped on the 2nd floor balcony. Tower 2 crews were successful in removing the occupant from the balcony. Companies made a great stop keeping the fire on the first floor without much extension. Due the heavy fire on arrival, the fire was able to spread to the exposures in the porch roof area. A total of four homes were damaged. No injuries were reported and the fire is being labeled as arson. Units on the 1st alarm: Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1,2 and Chief 4 (Reed), 2nd alarm: Wagon 3, Tower 3, York Co. Rescue 69. Chiefs 1 (Konkle), 2 (Sevison), and 3 (Soulier) also responded to the scene.
