11/30/05 - Harrisburg - S. 13th Street

At 2105 hours Task Force 1 dispatched to 419 S. 13th Street for a structure fire in the Allison Hill neighborhood. En route, units were advised of numerous calls with fire showing. Squad 8 arrived on location and reported heavy fire on the second and third floors of a 3 story brick twin extending to a 3 story, frame and requested a 2nd alarm. The Squad 8 crew took the first line and protected the exposure, separated by a narrow walkway, as fire scorched the exterior. Chief 6 (Berger) arrived and reported fire in two buildings possibly extending to a third. Multiple lines were stretched into the fire building as Tower 1 quickly knocked down visible fire from the platform. With heavy fire still extending throughout the fire building Chief 3 (Soulier) requested Engine 30 (Penbrook) to the scene. With the additional manpower on scene crews were able to contain the bulk of the fire and performed extensive overhaul. The fire was declared under control at 2150 hours. “A” platoon members worked the job. Units on scene: 1st Alarm: Squad 8, Wagon 4, Tower 1, 3, Chief 6; 2nd Alarm: Wagon 3, Tower 2, York Co Rescue 69 (RIT); Special Call: Engine 30 and Air 13 (West Shore Bureau of Fire).
