Saturday, August 21, 2010 - Swatara Township - 4790 Derry Street
Shortly after 1800 hours companies were summoned to 4790 Derry Street in Company 44's (Lawnton) first due for a structure fire. Reports indicated a kitchen fire in a rear, second floor apartment. Chief officer from Company 44 on location with light smoke showing from inside an apartment located over the PIP Printing and Marketing Services building. A line was stretched and quickly knocked down a fire involving the oven. The building was cleared of smoke and units were returned to service in about 45 minutes. An unusual occurrence obvious at the scene was Mount Union Engine 7 from Huntingdon County on location. They were on standby along with Paxtonia Engine 34 at Swatara Township Company 49 while they conducted their annual banquet.
