Metro Harrisburg Fire Photos 2009
April 13, 2009 - Steelton Borough - R Street
Dauphin County Box 502 tones rang out around 1130 hours for reported smoke from the roof at 334 R Street in the East End section of town. PD on location with heavy smoke from the eaves and no occupants were in the residence. Chief 501 (Handley) arrived and requested the first alarm as heavy fire started to vent from a second floor window of a 2 story, wood frame, private dwelling. Engine 55 (Highspire) arrived and laid in from the hydrant at 3rd and R Streets. Engine 50 (Steelton) took side A and stretched an attack line to the front door. Tower 1 (Harrisburg) set up behind Engine 50 and went to the roof for ventilation. Interior crews made a quick hit on the fire preventing further extension as additional manpower arrived to assist with operations. The fire was placed under control by Command 50 in about 15 minutes and the box downgraded to Company 50 and 55 at 1259 hours. Units on scene: Engines 32 (Progress), 50 (Steelton), 55 (Highspire), 59 (Lower Swatara), Truck 50 (Steelton), Tower 1 (Harrisburg), Rescues 40 (Paxtang), 49 (Swatara Township), 88 (Middletown), and Air 41 (Bressler).
