Metro Harrisburg Fire Photos 2008
Sunday, January 13, 2008 - Wormleysburg Borough - Poplar St
Companies from the West Shore dispatched to 10 Poplar Street for a house fire around 1530 hours. Responding units were advised of multiple calls and Chief 1A went on location with fire showing from side C. The fire building was an occupied, 3 story, middle of the row, frame dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the eaves from all the structures. A second alarm was quickly struck as it was apparent the fire would be labor intensive. Companies stretched several lines, including the use of foam, and threw several ground ladders to control the rapidly spreading fire. Once crews were able to reach the roof firefighters were able to make good progress on the fire. Companies needed over an hour to control the fire which went multiple alarms bringing in equipment from Dauphin and York Counties, including the City of Harrisburg. Numerous residents were left homeless in the fire.
