Metro Harrisburg Fire Photos 2008
Monday, September 22, 2008 - Steelton Borough - S. Front Street
Box 501 sent units to 539 S. Front Street for a reported garage fire at 1210 hours. A large column of smoke indicated a working fire and the the full box assignment was dispatched. Engine 50 (Steelton) arrived and hit the hydrant at S. Front Street and Mayberry Alley. A 1.75" inch was stretched up the alley where the main body of fire was quickly knocked down. The garage had collapsed prior to any suppression. A step gun was also set up to protect an exposed 2.5 story, frame, duplex which suffered melted siding and some minor damage as companies checked for extension. The box was placed in service around 1330 hours. Companies on the scene: Engines 41 (Bressler), 50 (Steelton), 55 (Highspire), Tower 1 (Harrisburg), Rescues 40 (Paxtang), and 49 (Swatara Twp).
