Thursday, January 19, 2006 - Susquehanna Township - Briggs St
Shortly before 0400 hours units from Companies 30 (Penbrook), 31(Edgemont), 32 (Progress), and 37 (Rescue) were dispatched to 2043 Briggs Street, just across the Harrisburg City line, for a structure fire. Engine 30 arrived on location reporting a one-story dwelling with heavy fire. Attack crews were met by oxygen tank explosions, from within the structure, keeping them from aggressively knocking the fire. Truck 32 crew laddered the roof and numerous lines were stretched as heavy fire consumed the 1.5 story, unoccupied, dwelling. Command 31 requested that an additional engine (E-37) be dispatched for RIT. The fire was fatal to a dog and took firefighters about 45 minutes to control. Units on the scene: Engines 301, 31, 32, 37, 37-1, Truck 32, and Rescue 37.
