Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - 215 Verbeke Street
An afternoon fire heavily damaged an apartment building in the Midtown section of Harrisburg. Tones rang out at 1540 hours for a structure fire at 215 Verbeke Street. Task Force 3 under the command of Chief 5 (Hartman) took in the box and were advised of multiple calls and possible entrapment. Wagon 3 arrived to heavy fire on the first floor of a 3 story, brick, occupied, multiple dwelling. Chief 5 requested the second alarm as first alarm companies began suppression and rescue operations. A good knock was made on the fire with no extension and all occupants were able to escape safely. Command requested relief, as the next tour was due to come on duty, and companies remained on the scene for a while performing overhaul. Units on the scene, 1st alarm: Wagon 3, Squad 8, Towers 1,2, Chief 5; 2nd alarm: Wagon 4, Tower 3, Rescue 69 (York Co.) Chiefs 1 (Konkle), 2 (Sevison).
