Wagon 4 and Tower 2 dispatched on Box 1-2 to the 1600 block of N. Cameron Street at Consolidated Scrap for a trash pile on fire. Captain 3 (Shrauder) arrived on location with a large scrap pile well involved. Wagon 4 hit the hydrant and supplied Tower 2 as Captain 4 requested Engine 6 for manpower. Firefighters fought the fire with an elevated stream and a ground appliance. The bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly but crews remained on the scene for an extended period of time soaking down the pile. City companies have been battling this pile of debris for the last week requiring multiple, separate dispatches during that time. Due to the materials of the pile, water streams are not able to penetrate very far, allowing the fire to keep flaring up.
