At 1130 hours, Task Force 3, under the command of Battalion Chief 5 (Hartman) dispatched to Hoffman and Antoine Streets for a structure fire with entrapment. Responding units were advised of multiple calls and two elderly occupants trapped inside. Fortunately, Task Force 3 companies were at Station 1 in the uptown allowing all 1st alarm companies to arrive simultaneously. Under normal circumstances Tower 1 and Squad 8 arrive at Uptown boxes a minute or two later than Wagon 3 and Tower 2. Due to the information from County Communications Chief 5 requested the second alarm before the arrival of first due companies. When units arrived on location heavy fire was rolling from the 2nd floor of a two-story, private, dwelling with confirmed entrapment. Crews quickly went to work and located a victim on the second floor. The occupant was located by Capt. Eiceman and Firefighter Lloyd and removed outside where they were assisted by other crews until the arrival of EMS. The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control in 10 minutes. The rescued occupant was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and the other occupant was able to escape on her own. Units on the scene: Wagons 3,4, Towers 1,2,3, Squad 8, Rescue 69, Chiefs 1,3,5.
