Thursday, May 25, 2006 - Swatara Street

Squad 8, Wagon 4, Towers, 1,3, and Chief 7 (Kumpf) sent to 2152 Swatara Street for a structure fire. Squad 8 arrived at 1535 hours and Lt. 8 (Bair) reported heavy smoke showing. A line was quickly stretched but interior crews were having difficulty finding the fire due to debris scattered throughout the residence. With the fire burning unchecked, interior crews reported a possible basement fire, and Chief 7 ordered the second alarm. The fire involved a 2 story, brick, middle of the row, dwelling. Once companies were able to access the basement, firefighters were able to get a good knock on the fire. 4 lines were stretched and operated and the fire was kept primarily to the fire building. Units on scene: Wagons 3,4, Squad 8, Towers 1,2,3, Rescue 69, Air 13, and Chiefs 1,3, 7.
