Task Force 2 was summoned to 14th and Regina Streets for a reported building fire around 0135 hours. Crews arrived on location with a working fire on the first floor of a 3 story, vacant, building that formerly housed apartments over a bar. A line was quickly stretched from the Squad and members were able to get a good hit on the rapidly spreading fire. Truck companies searched and opened up as Captain 1 requested a second alarm. Firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from extending throughout the sprawling structure. The fire was placed under control in about 30 minutes. Units on the scene: 1st alarm: Squad 8, Wagon 4, Towers 1,2, Captain 1; 2nd alarm: Wagon 3, Tower 3, Rescue 69 (York Co.), Chiefs 1,2,3. Special call: Air 13 (West Shore Bureau of Fire). It should be noted that this building has been the scene of several fires over the years, particularly during the era of high fire activity in the city, in which some were very spectacular.
