Wagon 4, Squad 8, Towers 1 and 3, and Chief 4 (Reed) responded on Task Force 1 to a reported structure fire at S. 12th and Hanover Streets in South Harrisburg. Chief 4 arrived and reported fire and smoke in a row of frames in the 1300 blk of S. 12th Street.. After directing incoming companies Chief 4 ordered a second alarm. Wagon 3, Tower 2, and Rescue 69 (York Co) came in on the dueces. Multiple handlines were stretched and truck companies opened up as heavy fire and smoke billowed from the rear of the row. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the blaze preventing further fire spread. The fire extended to both exposures before being brought under control in 45 minutes. Although the fire building was vacant, about 15 residents in the exposures were left homeless.
