Detroit Devils Night Fires 2008

Pictured are some of the fires surrounding the annual Devils Night (now called Angels Night) in Detroit. Although the fires were'nt as prevalent as they were in the 80's the fire load is still incredible. There were a reported 65 fires on October 30th alone (once it got dark around 1900 there were at least 10-12 working dwellings in about 1.5 hours). The day before Halloween (most fires) is considered Devils Night, however the event covers the days of October 29-31. We were able to make it to 27 fires that we actually photographed. There were countless others that we could'nt make due to distance, multiple jobs at one time, already at a fire taking pics, sleep & rest, and others that didnt leave us with too much to take pictures of. Amazingly, the fire rate occurs year round and we were told that every night is Devils Night in Detroit. I lost images from 3 fires that we made due to a mishap when transferring images from camera to laptop. 2 of those 3 fires can be seen here: Leslie & Linwood and Burwell & Cecil. Thanks to Adam Alberti (njfirepictures.smugmug.com) for the hospitality and welcoming me on the trip.
